A good-looking sofa is one thing. Knowing what went into making it is another.

We recently spent some time inside our factories, following our furniture from raw materials through to the final inspection. And while we could tell you that quality matters to us, we’d rather show you.

These are the people cutting the leather, sewing the seams, finishing the wood, checking the details, and making sure everything is ready for your home. There are a lot of skilled hands behind every Poly & Bark piece. Here’s a closer look at what they do.

We work with full-grain Italian-tanned leathers, chosen for the way they feel, wear, and get better with time. But great leather is only half the story. Turning it into a piece of furniture takes people who really know what they’re doing.

Our leather craftspeople cut and work with each hide by hand, paying attention to its natural character before it ever reaches a frame. From there, every seam, edge, and upholstered detail is carefully finished.

It’s a slower, more hands-on way of doing things. We think your leather piece is worth it.

A lot happens between choosing a beautiful fabric and sitting down on the finished sofa.

Our upholstery teams cut, sew, fit, and finish the fabrics by hand. Details like piping, tufting, neatly matched seams, and the way fabric sits around a curve all take skill. They’re the kinds of things you might not consciously notice when everything is done well. You definitely notice when they’re not.

We’re also picky about the fabrics themselves. From soft velvets and textured weaves to hardworking performance fabrics, we choose materials for how they feel and how they’ll actually live in your home. Then our craftspeople take it from there.

Wood has a mind of its own. Grain changes from board to board. Color shifts. Knots appear. That’s part of what makes the real thing so good.

Our woodworkers know how to work with those differences rather than against them. Pieces are shaped, joined, sanded, and finished with a close eye on the natural character of the wood. You’ll see that craftsmanship in the details, from bookmatched veneers that turn natural grain into a feature, to smooth curves and the seamless transitions between solid wood and veneer.

And this isn’t furniture that arrives as a box of boards and a very long instruction manual. Wherever possible, we construct our furniture properly at the factory, so there’s little for you to do when it arrives. Less assembling = more admiring = you’re welcome.

After seeing the materials, craftsmanship, and care that goes into every piece, you might be wondering how we keep our prices where they are.

The answer is pretty simple. We spend money where we think it matters: good materials, good construction, and skilled people. And we save on everything around it.

Our direct-to-consumer model cuts out traditional retail markups, middlemen, and the cost of running a huge network of showrooms. So more of what you pay for goes into the furniture itself.

Showroom quality, without the showroom markup. That’s how we make good living gettable.
